What is Acoustic Resonant Testing (ART)?
-
Simple, reliable, continous non-destructive part testing method
-
100% inspection (whole part, every part)
-
Extends to process monitoring
How does ART work?
Step One: An industrial instrumented hammer impacts the part with a measured and repeatable force. The impact causes the part to ring.
Step Two: Audible and inaudible sounds are measured by the microphone.
Step Three: A spectrum analyzer performs a Fast Fourier Transform on the measured data. A computer then translates this into a spectral line that is displayed using specialized software.

Step Four: NDT-RAM software compares the results to acceptable limits and accepts or rejects the part accordingly.
